I Have Made a Decision

You have to make decisions all of the time, and each decision made can have a great impact on your life. Choices we make have the power to change our lives forever. One very important choice is salvation, but there is another choice, for those of us who are already saved, that is just as important: Am I willing to surrender my life to Christ? As with salvation, this is an act of your free will. Only you can choose. The difference between salvation and surrender is that salvation need only be done once, but the decision to surrender your life to Christ is done daily.
Every day you must decide if you will let God lead, or if you will lead. (Proverbs 12:15; Proverbs 16:2; Proverbs 21:2; Jeremiah 17:9; 1 Samuel 16:7) What we think is right and what God thinks is right are two different things. Our hearts can easily deceive us into believing we are doing what is right, when God's way is totally opposite. You can be doing all of the right things and still be going the wrong way, if you are trying to do it in your own strength. However, the Lord is gracious and merciful to those who truly have a heart to learn his will. (Isaiah 45:2a) All of the "crooked" decisions we have made - all of our mistakes, he goes through and straightens them, conforming us to his will. (Romans 12:1-2) But you first have to decide to let him lead.
Allowing God to lead you requires you to put aside all that you think you know and to trust God to show you what is right. This isn't easy for those of us who like to be in control and who like to know all of the reasons why. Trusting God for what's around the corner is difficult, but it is unavoidable if he is to lead. God does not have to play by our rules, he does not have to tell us his every move - he has reasons for why he is taking you down a particular road, and he can see the bigger picture - your job is to simply trust him. As the hymn says "Simply trusting every day, trusting thru a stormy way; even when my faith is small, trusting Jesus - that is all. Trusting as the moments fly, trusting as the days go by; trusting him whatever befall; trusting Jesus - that is all."
This decision of surrender should never be some fly-by commitment...even though it has to be made every day, the inconsistency of keeping that choice would be an injustice to Christ. If you will choose to surrender your life to Christ, be sure you are fully persuaded, and determine that you will not waiver. (Psalm 16:8; Matthew 26:41; Philippians 4:13) Our flesh certainly is weak, but we have the Holy Spirit within us and when Christ is our strength, we can do what is right. (Ruth 1:16-17) Ruth was fully persuaded in her mind of what she should do...there was no second-guessing herself...nothing Naomi said would change her mind of what she believed was the right thing to do.How persuaded are you? Are you sure that you are on the path that God has laid out for you? Are you doing the right thing?
I have made a decision to trust God, what will you decide?
