A Kiss
(Luke 22:39-48; Proverbs 27:6)
The Rich Young Ruler
(Luke 22:39-48; Proverbs 27:6)
To the mount of Olives went Christ to
pray
His disciples followed, but knew not
what to say.
The Son of God – the Son of man weeps a
bitter cry
He tells the Father, “Not my will, but
thine.”
Agonized to his very soul,
He prays, he pleads, he sweats, he
bleeds.
Found sleeping for sorrow, the
disciples awaken
“Rise and pray, lest ye enter into
temptation.”
Judas, being one of the twelve, was
taken by Satan – a fiend
Now betrays his Master with a kiss
unseen.
The wounds of a friend indeed are
faithful;
But the kisses of an enemy are
deceitful.
The Rich Young Ruler
(Luke 18:18-24)
The Saviour was teaching upon a hill,
A rich young ruler saw and stood still.
“Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” cried he.
Keep the Ten Commandments and follow me.
Moses’ commandments have I kept,
From my youth up I have never wavered, no, not yet.
I will gladly, my Lord, follow thee,
But, to give away my riches makes me sorrowful indeed.
Seeing the troubled countenance of this man,
Christ explained this simple command.
Asking in his infinite wisdom,
How can a rich man enter God’s kingdom?
The Publican & The Pharisee
(Luke 18:10-14)
Two men went into the temple to pray,
God listened to what each had to say.
The Pharisee told God his religious acts;
Boasting is easy when it is facts.
The Publican dared not lift his eyes.
"God be merciful to me a sinner." was his cry.
Justified was this self-confessed sinner,
For he humbled himself before the Forgiver.
He who exalted himself to God's face
Found that his pride was turned to disgrace.
God listens to all your prayers too,
Are they about God or all about you?
God listened to what each had to say.
The Pharisee told God his religious acts;

Are they about God or all about you?
