The Decaying Christian

{Ecclesiastes 10:18}
   "By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through." We are so quick to forget our duty to our God- we are content with laying dormant in our spiritual lives. After salvation, there are works we can do, things we need to learn, places God wants us to go. However, if we are not willing to grow, the Lord will not force his will on our lives- it must be our choice. When we do not want to grow, we stay a seed- planted, but no roots, no stem, no leaves, no flower, no growth. God can do nothing with us, we become a dead seed- a decaying Christian.
   The decaying Christian isn't always a seed, it can be a flower, who was once in full bloom, now withered. We see the Lord work all around us and in us, but we still get distracted. Don't let the trials and troubles [nor the pleasures] of this world distract you so much that you forget what God has done and what he can do. A withered flower always looks so sad and neglected- a withered Christian looks the same. You will no longer be happy in the Lord, and your spiritual life will disappear. Christ will revive you, if you will let him.
{Mark 4:14-20}
   "The sower soweth the word. And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred." What seed will you be? Will you stay dormant and decayed or will you bloom and grow?
{Joshua 24:15b}
"...but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
